10 Cute cafes in Paris you NEED to have a coffee at!

Are you tired of generic cafe recommendations in Paris?

Searching for truly unique and charming spots for your next coffee break?

You’re in the right place!

I’ve spent lots of trips Paris’s hidden gems, finding the cutest and most unique cafes that offer more than just a cup of coffee. Whether you’re a fan of cozy nooks or love indulging in expert people-watching (if only it were an Olympic sport!), this guide is for you.

In this article, you’ll find cafes that are not only Instagram-famous but also distinctly Parisian and uniquely captivating.

These are not your typical best cafes—they’re the cutest and most interesting spots in the city, perfect for making your Parisian experience unforgettable!

1. La Maison Rose

Location: 2 Rue de l’Abreuvoir, Montmartre

One of the most famous cute cafes in Paris has to be La Maison Rose.

This cafe is an iconic spot in Montmartre and probably one of the most photographed cafes in the city.

La Maison Rose is known for its pastel pink facade and beautiful green shutters. It is located on one of the most beautiful streets in the city, and honestly, it feels like stepping into a painting.

La Maison Rose has been a favorite among artists and writers for decades.

Their menu offers a nice range of classic French dishes and pastries, which makes it the perfect spot for a nice brunch.

I love visiting this Parisian café early in the morning when it just opens because then you get to experience the magic of Montmartre waking up. There are almost no tourists (or parisians) around, and the whole area is super quiet.

2. Le Consulat

Location: 18 Rue Norvins, Montmartre

Next up, we have Le Consulat.

Le Consulat is another super famous café in Montmartre, located on rue Norvins.

Le Consulat is very famous because artists like Picasso and Van Gogh were regulars at this café.

Having visited Le Consulat myself, I have to say, hands down, I love how much of its vintage charm this beautiful café has retained. I fell in love with the classic red and white awning and the bistro tables that spill onto the street, which honestly makes this a quintessential Parisian experience.

Inside Le Consulat, the decor can be described as very cozy and traditional. You will see lots of paintings and photographs about the bohemian past of Montmartre.

The menu features French classics, and they also have an excellent wine selection.

I love going to Le Consulat to unwind after a day of exploring Montmartre and I would recommend coming here on your next trip!

3. Café des Deux Moulins

Location: 15 Rue Lepic, Montmartre

And how can I forget Café des Deux Moulins?

I have to admit, Amélie is one of my absolute favorite movies of all time, after Midnight in Paris by Woody Allen.

Café des Deux Moulins is very famous because it appeared in the movie Amélie—it’s where Amélie works.

If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll understand that this cute parisian cafe has retained its very retro vibe. I just love to come here for that cinematic nostalgia. The interior at Café des Deux Moulins is decorated with vintage movie posters and beautiful retro furnishings. It’s a unique atmosphere that takes you back in time.

Sure, Café des Deux Moulins is pretty touristy, but it’s still very nice to have a coffee here. It offers lots of delicious pastries and, of course, traditional French cuisine.

It doesn’t really matter whether you’re a fan of the film or not or you’re just looking for a nice spot to enjoy a coffee with a croissant. It’s a great café to go to if you’re in the area and a perfect spot to people watch!

4. Café de Flore

Location: 172 Boulevard Saint-Germain, Saint-Germain-des-Prés

Next up, we have Café de Flore, an incredibly famous and legendary café in Paris. It was even featured in the hit series Emily in Paris.

Cafe de Flore is a very elegant café, and many literary greats have come here over the years. It was a place where Sartre, Hemingway, and Stein used to come. This was very popular with famous writers and philosophers.

What I love about Café de Flore are the beautiful mirrored walls and the red seating. Inside, you will also see beautiful classic Art Deco design, which makes it one of those iconic locations to have a coffee if you come to Paris.

The café itself has an extensive menu, and you can get anything from a simple café au lait, a coffee with milk, to very nice gourmet meals, all served in quite nice portions.

There is outdoor seating, and I personally love this place for a bit of people watching.

They also have a famous hot chocolate, which I especially love in winter because it’s very creamy and super indulgent. Definately come here on your next trip to Paris!

❌ 10 Things you should NEVER pack for Paris!

5. Les Deux Magots

Location: 6 Place Saint-Germain des Prés, Saint-Germain-des-Prés

Next up, we have Les Deux Magots on Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés. This is actually a rival to Café de Flore and one of the most instagrammable Parisian cafés in the city of light.

Just like Café de Flore, Les Deux Magots is historically important for the writers and artists who used to roam the streets of Paris.

At Les Deux Magots, you will also see that classic Parisian charm and ambiance, making it a must-visit for anyone in Saint-Germain-des-Prés who wants a coffee and to experience that quintessential French café atmosphere.

The interior features mainly dark wood, brass fittings, and very plush seating. I absolutely love it. It feels super luxurious but still incredibly cozy.

Another thing I love about Les Deux Magots – one of the prettiest cafes in Paries, is that the café hosts literary events, and it is known to attract quite good authors for talks.

So, do have a look if there are any events going on if you’re a fan of books like me because there might be something that interests you.

6. La Caféothèque

Location: 52 Rue de l’Hôtel de Ville, Marais

Now we’re going to Marais with La Caféothèque.

La Caféothèque is a paradise for coffee lovers.

Sure, this Paris cafe itself is quite cozy and rustic, but if you are a coffee snob, and I know some of my friends are, this is for you.

They roast their own beans and have such amazing knowledge about the coffee itself making it one of the best coffee shops in Paris.

If that does not interest you, that’s fine, because the interior is also warm and inviting. There are lots of wooden beams, and shelves lined with coffee bags from around the world.

The staff are incredibly passionate about coffee and coffee making, and they’re always happy to share their knowledge. They offer a range of brewing methods, so if you’re a bit of a coffee snob, you can have your coffee exactly how you like it. They also offer homemade pastries and snacks if you’re feeling a bit peckish.

Location: 19 Rue du Pont aux Choux, Marais

Another café in Marais that might be worth your while is Boot Cafe.

Boot Cafe is a tiny, quirky café named because it is housed in what used to be a cobbler’s shop. I would describe the café as having a rather intimate setting with a beautiful blue façade, and honestly, the whole place is super charming.

Boot Cafe is known for its excellent coffee and very friendly atmosphere. The interior is minimalistic but cozy, with only a few small tables and a nice counter where you can watch the barista work.

The menu at Boud Cafe is super simple. You can get high-quality coffee and fresh pastries, and honestly, no matter what you order here, you will never be disappointed. It is the perfect place to sit with your laptop or book in this beautiful city to just watch the world go by.

8. Café Kitsuné Palais Royal

Location: 51 Galerie de Montpensier, Palais Royal

If you love Japan, you should go to Café Kitsuné by Palais Royal. There are multiple locations in Paris but the one at Palais Royal is one of the most instagrammable cafés in Paris.

Café Kitsuné blends Japanese minimalism with Parisian elegance and style. Located in the gardens of Palais Royal, which are super beautiful, it’s a very stylish place to take a coffee break.

Café Kitsuné has a sleek, modern design that contrasts with the beautiful, historic surroundings.

At Café Kitsuné, you can enjoy various Japanese-inspired pastries and drinks, such as matcha lattes and yuzu tarts. And oh my god, the yuzu tarts are absolutely amazing.

There is outdoor seating if you want to enjoy the garden. This is a favorite place among fashionistas and Instagrammers because it feels super luxurious and chic. The location itself is incredibly Instagrammable and photogenic.

9. Ob-La-Di

Location: 54 Rue de Saintonge, Marais

Let’s go back to Le Marais for Ob-la-di.

Obladi is one of those instagrammable cafes that is both trendy and stylish. The interior is completely blue-tiled, creating an incredibly hip and trendy atmosphere.

The café is very popular with local fashionistas and the “it” girls, and honestly, it serves up some of the best avocado toast in Paris.

The coffee at Obladi is excellent, but if you don’t like coffee, they also have a range of freshly pressed juices and smoothies.

One of the reasons I included this café in the list of the cute cafes in Paris is because the decor is so Instagram-worthy. There are lots of vibrant tiles and cozy seating areas, making this charming cafe one of the best places to meet friends for brunch or just to enjoy a little coffee with a good book.

The café is a favorite among cyclists, and here you can enjoy a selection of delicious pastries and small bites.

As you might expect, the interior of this pretty cafe is decorated with bike-related memorabilia, and their coffee is top-notch.

If you don’t like coffee and want something stronger, they have a great selection of craft beers and a nice wine list.

If you’re looking for somewhere in Paris to have a coffee that’s a bit quirky and special, Le Peloton Café is definitely one to put on your list.

11. Holybelly

Location: 5 Rue Lucien Sampaix, Canal Saint-Martin

The list of cute cafes in Paris would not be complete without Holybelly.

Holybelly is a very popular brunch cafe located in the Canal Saint-Martin area. It offers a delicious menu for breakfast and brunch, so you can get pancakes, eggs, fresh salads, and more. They also serve great coffee.

The interior is bright and airy, with large windows and a contemporary design. It’s an incredibly popular place for Instagrammers, fashionistas, it-girls, and influencers, not only because it is so beautiful inside but also because the food is great.

Do watch out, though, because it’s very popular with the it-crowd. It can get really busy, so you might have to wait for a table.

❗11 Tourist Traps You Need to Avoid When Traveling to Paris

12. Ten Belles

Location: 10 Rue de la Grange aux Belles, Canal Saint-Martin

Another one at Canal Saint-Martin is Ten Belles.

Ten Belles can be best described as very rustic and cozy, but they do have excellent coffee. This Paris café is very popular with locals, although I notice that more and more visitors and tourists are finding their way to Ten Belles. They offer a nice selection of freshly baked pastries and light snacks.

I especially love the wooden accents and the abundance of natural light at Ten Belles.

When I’m in Paris, I love having a coffee here. If I’m visiting Canal Saint-Martin, I like to sit around and do some people watching or even get a bit of work done.
